From song to memory to robin, we now enter the final stage of the 30-day Intuition Project with a raven … On a break between sessions, I walk outside and look up. A raven just happens to be coursing by. Clearly she’s going somewhere.

I say, “Hello love.”

She turns from her path, mid-flight, and begins to circle, clockwise. I tune in. A pool of pain in my body catches my attention. I relax around it. The raven changes direction. Counter-clockwise motion symbolizes unwinding, releasing. The pain subsides. I take a deep breath and watch her circle, one, two, three times. I feel my heart aching for those I know who are suffering. The raven croaks. She circles again. I offer up my beloveds to Spirit. We breathe together. She passes behind the trees. I soak in sunlight then go on about my day.

Maybe a minute has passed, or two. The dialogue is fleeting, expansive. This was the most important conversation I had all week, a full body talk. So much more transpired than I can explain. How marvelous and… curious.

All We Don’t Know

Intuition does not bring certainty. For starters, we have no idea for sure where intuition comes from. Did the raven give me the idea to listen to my body? Or was it my soul or a goddess or an angel?

There is no way to know exactly or entirely what the Divine wants from us. Did I have that experience so I could write about it? Or not? Was it purely meant to help me? Or did the raven need that moment more than me?

What comes after we act on our intuition is a total black box. We have guesses, but really we don’t know the consequences of acting on an intuitive hit. What if I hadn’t gone outside at that moment? What if the raven had stayed to talk with her friends a little longer and missed me?
