Betrayal on the Way Home, Again
Losing trust in others doesn't have to mean losing trust in yourself or the Universe.

Yet another betrayal. The Bluebeard, Hades, wicked step mother - whatever name the villain goes by - infiltrates again. The evil queen disguised as a helpful elder offers an apple. We gratefully receive the aid. They show up in a time of need, sneak up unsuspecting. The price is masked in riddles. We end up paying too much.
When does the deception end? Will it ever be safe to trust again?
There has to be a way to thwart the adversary. Healing, prayer, meditation, self-reflection and shadow work has to help. Doesn’t it? There has to be a way to erect protections from such invasions, for good. What if we could start from a young age?
I didn’t want to be her, the Handless Maiden, wandering through the woods starving, unable to pick my own food. I didn’t want to be the wife without her sealskin, trapped in the hut, landlocked, her authentic self held captive. As a very young girl, I promised myself I would not grow up to lose myself to family, motherhood, culture, work. I vowed to always remain home within myself.
The Road Home
Last week, they came with a tow truck and winch to drag the 1950’s truck out of the creek. They are vowing to make changes and fix the only road to my house. It’s a dreadfully dangerous dirt road, especially when wet and buried in a foot or more of snow. There is a particularly narrow section that is not to code. The county snowplow driver came out to look at the road this fall and said she won’t be able to plow there. It’s too risky.
I lose sleep over this. The county hasn’t cared for a long time. The road is about to give way to the hillside and plummet into the creek. Already two cars have made the long descent.
